Travel Plan
Children from the Pupil Council, Eco Team and the Junior Road Safety Officers worked very hard with Mrs Mathison to present a fantastic assembly to launch the school travel plan.
They gave a PowerPoint presentation and spoke about how more children would walk or cycle to school if there were better footpaths. They also talked about how they could improve safety outside the school.
Here are just some of their ideas:
"Hard surface the pathway to the swimming pool via the Braidburn"
"Provide ramped access over the bridge and into school from the field"
" Put up bollards to stop cars mounting the pavement on the corner
outside school."
"Pupils will write letter asking traffic wardens to be outside school
at end of day."
"Pupils will back this up with a “Silent Protest” holding banners asking
parents not to park in places which block the view of those trying
to cross."
"Get a “Parksmart” sign put up on the school railings to last longer than the
short-lived banner."
What excellent, well thought-out ideas!
